Events are a game mechanic to present the player with information. Usually events are conveyed to present a game change to the player. This change can be through a modifier applied to something (temporary or permanent), or a definite change to something. For example Japan can reform it's national religion through an event.
Optionally multiple options may be available for the player to choose which most benefits it. Sometimes extra hidden options are available if the player fulfills certain requirements.
