Ideology
ideologies determine what stance an interest group has on political issues. Ideologies can come from different sources, be it the standard ideologies included in every IG, by the enacting of a law, from the country-specific circumstances, or from the stance of the IG leader.
Standard ideologies[edit | edit source]
Below is a list of all standard ideologies typically included in every IG. An ideology's stance towards all laws is neutral except where noted.
The Pro-Slavery ideology is added to the
Landowners if slavery of any kind is enacted and removed from them some time[1] after it is banned. The
Socialist ideology is added to the
Trade Unions when
Socialism is researched.

Leader ideologies[edit | edit source]
Characters have their own ideologies. When a character leads an interest group, this ideology adds to, and may override, that interest group's default stances. When characters are created, they can receive a random ideology or a preset ideology. Preset ideologies ignore the requirements and weights.
The chance for an ideology to be selected is equal to its weight divided by the total weight of all valid ideologies.

Event ideologies[edit | edit source]
Event ideologies are ideologies which come into effect due to an event chain. Similar to how Pro-Slavery gets added/removed depending on the slavery laws, an event can act as a catalyst to change/add/remove ideologies.
Interest group ideologies[edit | edit source]
Each interest group has three or four ideologies they follow by default, shaping which laws that interest group generally supports or opposes, although event-driven ideologies and leader ideologies may change this in various circumstances.
